Alex Partington
Project CoordinatorAlex is a researcher at the CIJ with a background in legal practice across the community, public and private sectors.
Prior to joining the CIJ, Alex provided specialist legal assistance to LGBTQIA+ communities at Southside Justice, including coordinating a specialist state-wide legal pilot for trans and gender diverse people, and supported a project at Justice Connect targeting homelessness of people exiting prison. Alex then worked at the VLF as Research Coordinator, contributing to research with a focus on access to justice.
Alex has worked on multiple projects at the CIJ relating to legal responses to harm, including a review of a government-run restorative justice scheme, research exploring responses to sexual violence in the ACT, and research exploring pathways to support for victim survivors of DFSV in NSW. Alex has recently coordinated the CIJ’s project investigating the misidentification of Aboriginal women, delivered in partnership with Djirra.
Alex is particularly interested in the impacts of incarceration and criminalisation on people from marginalised communities, including victim survivors of DFSV.
