Samara Young
Senior Adviser, Research and AdvocacySamara has worked across a range of sectors, including Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, NGOs and the education sector in roles involving communications, social policy, project management and service delivery.
Samara is a social worker who has worked across education, family services, and Aboriginal community-controlled settings. At the Centre for Innovative Justice, she brings her strong interpersonal skills to conduct person-centred research focused on family violence and the criminalisation of children and young people.
In addition to her social work training, Samara has studied and worked in communications, spending her early career translating the work of First Nations organisations and NGOs for broader audiences. She now draws on these skills at the CIJ to translate research into clear, impactful policy and advocacy initiatives.
Outside of work, Samara volunteers her time for a number of First Nation’s led organisations, including Justice for Walker and the Gladys Elphick Committee.
