‘I felt lighter’: Restorative Justice gives sex crime survivors a different way forward

Like thousands of sexual assault victim-survivors in Australia every year, 22-year-old Hannah* had little chance of seeing her perpetrator charged, much less put behind bars.

After her relationship of 2½ years ended, Hannah realised her ex-boyfriend had filmed the couple having sex without her consent.She felt violated and traumatised, and to this day doesn’t know where else the video ended up.
